The Last Hurroo Oh hear the throbbing hum of drums The snapping flags in unison The golden songs of Victory That feed the stomp of Certainty Long gone the crackling banners bright Vanishing with Zeal overnight Shame trumps Pride so easily While Pity masks the Savagery Chorus Leave the toys and join the boys With blinding steel in proud revue All hail the Glorious Truth The Mighty, Brave, Manhood Debut Hurroo Hurroo Hurroo! Hunger and Disease and Fear Riding Death’s Pale Horse reappear Oh why do we believe the lies Of Valor, Honor and Certainty? Chorus Our trusting clear-eyed boys so true With drums and guns - Hurroo! Hurroo! Before your dancing days are through Just listen through that drum tattoo Chorus They always lead from the rear Behind the young hearts facing Fear Behind the war-call buzz of drums Misleading flags, bleeding guns Chorus So, lay down your sword and shield And study war no more! Hurroo

Drunk Tank 04:28
Drunk Tank He’s got the wife and the house and the car He’s got the wife and the house and the car Roll up his sleeves; you can hardly see his scars Still feels like he ain’t come so very far He gotta haircut and bought some new shoes He gotta haircut and bought some new shoes Filled his belly with the low-hanging fruit Can’t keep out the cold, gravestone blues Chorus Take him down to the drunk tank baby Save him a seat at the Lowland Games Give him a drink from the willow spring (‘cause he needsa) Patch of blue in this sky full of rain Got the blueprints for a new technology Got the blueprints for a new technology Makin’ plans for the life in front of me Still makin’ sense of everything I left behind me People mean and stupid, I can’t abide People mean and stupid, I can’t abide Sometimes I’m mean and stupid, I can’t hide it Like when I cut you quick, try and deny it. Chorus Bridge We’ll rope a goat and sip some wine Plant some seeds in the pale moonshine Sweat your prayers and pray your songs A morning glory never lasts too long Read in the good book about the Pearly Gates Read in the good book about the Pearly Gates I don’t know if I can ever change my fate But I’m hoping they’ll be open just the same (for me) Chorus

Safe In Hell 05:07
Safe In Hell When I was young and dumb and full of cum I’d do anything with anyone Anytime, anywhere I would not listen - I did not care They all said I’s gonna burn Forever when it came my turn I wouldn’t hear what they had to tell, no I was bound straight for Hell No, they won’t dare come after me The hot discomfort will keep me free From all the champions that have been saved Who’d have me harping if I’d behaved No curfew or chance of rain No one cuts in line for their share of pain No non-smoking or looking for a light Just deathless hot time in the old town tonight Chorus Damn me, I’m going down I’m wicked for the underground Don’t need no clothes, only steamy skin Don’t matter if we sin again No gathering fuel and no frostbite A topless fire dance and the bottomless night I’m going down that blazing well Where I’ll finally be safe in hell! I’m sure no-one would dare follow But here they coming doing the limbo They’d all been saved just for me And sent down to make hell gloomy It’s cruel to be so enslaved I feel trapped not just depraved It was then I noticed the smell No longer safe, not safe in hell Chorus Damn me, I’m down Sick of wicked under the ground Got no clothes, just steamy skin Oh, do we have to sin again? We are the fuel despite frostbite An endless fire dance in the bottomless night I’m still going down that blazing well!!! Where it’s no longer safe And it’s no escape No longer safe - safe in hell! Damn me!

Rawhead and Bloody Bones Floating in the bay or airborne on the breeze Choking helplessly, expensive with disease Up there in a tree or way down underneath Hiding in a jar or kneeling on the floor Who can it be? Oh who can it be he he? Oh could it be old Rawhead and Bloody Bones? Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones Behind the next door! Is that he in the air? Is that him in the tide? Sinking in the sand while reaching for my hand? Will he always be? Will I always see? Oh please leave me be old Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones Waiting behind that door! Who was at my birth? Who stays by my side? Underneath my skin, feeding on my life? Don’t tell me who it is, don’t ever let me know I never ever want to see old Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones Peeking out that door! If I’m patient and dutiful, long suffering and sane If I’m honest and cheerful can I avoid the pain? Will I still have to see, will I still have to meet? Is there no escape from old Rawhead and Bloody Bones? Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones Opening that door! If I’m fighting for glory and the seizing the day Leading the charge and blazing away What will I find, will I still turn to stone? Is there no way around old Rawhead and Bloody Bones? Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones Jumping through that door! If I’m multilinguistic and very well read So philanthropic and awesome in bed Will that release me? Can I find a way? Get dispensation past old Rawhead and Bloody Bones? Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones To drag me through that door! If I’m clean and generous, quiet and meek Very nice and helpful, so sympathétique Can I avoid him? May I be excused? Give me a waiver past old Rawhead and Bloody Bones? Rawhead and Bloody Bones? No, no, not Rawhead and Bloody Bones! Old Rawhead and Bloody Bones Go away from my door!

about

The Goat Family's third release, The Devil Can Eat My Dust, features some of Rock Ross's best original lyrics with reflection on a possible afterlife in Safe In Hell and the unending nightmare of Rawhead And Bloody Bones. Rock and Thad Povey team up for the anti-war anthem, The Last Hurroo, while Chris Santeramo brings us to the Drunk Tank, for a release from the misery of daily life.

Two cover tunes that have long been part of Goat Family live shows have finally been captured without losing their wildness – Ain’t No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down with it’s evangelical ferocity, and the show-stopper, Si Tu Boquita Fuera, with it’s tortilla-flinging madness.
